The fabrics and hardware in the Alustra® Collection of Vignette® incorporate a subtle metallic sheen that is reminiscent of today’s most admired high-end design fixtures. Your Roman shades, brackets, headrails, bottom rails, and end caps will bring a cohesive look and feel to your rooms and enhance a neutral or bold color scheme.
Once you’ve chosen fabrics you love, you can select a style for your Roman shades. The Rolling Style is best suited for rooms where you’d like your shades to disappear when fully raised. The 4” full fold or 6” flat fold roll up neatly into the headrail and display your view of the outdoors. For shallow mounting depths or rooms with a more minimalist style, the 4” full folds of the Stacking Style stack neatly beneath a low-profile headrail. Both types maintain a crisp appearance and require minimal dressing when being raised or lowered.
If you have elaborate woodwork, your Roman blinds will draw attention to the frame without overpowering the architecture. The innate versatility of Roman shades can impart many different aesthetics into a space. A room with a lot of sharp, metal decor and dark colors will benefit from the feminine charm of a soft fabric in a neutral tone. On the contrary, you can add a bit of masculinity to a room with a Roman shade made of a heavier fabric and in a deep shade or earthy hue.
When caring for your Roman shades, it’s important to know the enemy. Dust, pollen, and other small debris are the ultimate adversaries of fabric window treatments. Fortunately, a little routine TLC will keep them looking pristine. Remove dust with a soft, clean cloth or vacuum using a brush attachment on low suction at least once weekly. Remember to clean both the front and back sides! If you notice any stubborn spots of grime, spot clean them as quickly as possible using warm water and a mild detergent. Avoid using harsh cleaners or chemicals as these products can degrade the fabric fibers and cause fading. Speaking of fading, adding a liner to your Roman shades is a good idea. The front side of your shades may be stunning, while the reverse is washed out and blotchy from UV exposure. You may think it’s an out of sight, out of mind scenario, but fading will seriously impact the view of your home from the outside.
